Moradabad, 28 November (HS). The Special Task Force (STF) on Thursday arrested Vikas Singh Dhama, an accused absconding with a reward of Rs 1 lakh in the murder case of Anuj Chaudhary, a BJP leader and candidate for the post of Asmoli block chief of Sambhal district, from Saharanpur. The accused was absconding for 15 months after the murder. It is being told that the absconding accused who was caught was hiding in Saharanpur for a long time and was living by hiding his identity.
Anuj Choudhary (35 years), resident of village Aliya Nekpur of Sambhal district, was an area Panchayat member from Asmauli block of Sambhal and Anuj along with his friend Puneet Choudhary were in the society near the park outside his residence in Parshvanath Pratibha Society located in Majhola area of Moradabad metropolitan police station. He was strolling on the road, while his gunner and staff were present in the flat. Meanwhile, Anuj Chaudhary was shot dead by unknown accused. Anuj was shot four times in the head, shoulder and back. After this the killers fled from the scene brandishing their guns. This incident in Saresham had spread sensation in the entire area.
In this case, Anuj Dost Sandeep Singh, resident of Salamatpur of Didoli police station area of Amroha, had filed a case against Prabhakar Chaudhary, husband of Santosh Devi, resident of block head Hajibeda of Asmoli, his son Aniket, Vikas Singh Dhama, Amit Kumar and Pushpendra and others. After the murder, the police had arrested many accused but the main accused Vikas Singh Dhama was absconding since then. The police launched a massive search operation to nab him and announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his arrest.
STF had received information from the informer that Vikas was hiding in Saharanpur. After this, Bareilly unit of STF surrounded Saharanpur and arrested him. According to STF officials, the main accused was dodging the police by constantly changing locations. His capture is being considered a major success in the investigation. STF officials said that apart from murder, many other serious cases are also registered against Vikas Singh. He was absconding since the murder and was hiding by constantly changing places. After his arrest he has been handed over to Moradabad Police. Moradabad Police is now interrogating him and gathering information about the murder conspiracy and other accused involved in it. The Anuj Chaudhary murder case had created a political stir not only in Moradabad but in the entire region. BJP leaders had expressed strong displeasure over this incident and demanded immediate action. After the arrest of the accused, the police hope that after interrogation, other secrets related to this case will come to light.
