Nawada, October 12 (HS). Vijayadashami, the festival of victory of truth over untruth, ended on Saturday evening with the Ravana killing program in the grounds of Harishchandra Stadium in Nawada.
Nawada Lok Sabha constituency candidate Shravan Kushwaha dedicated the effigy of Ravana to the fire by shooting an arrow. Agia Betal Durga Puja Committee President Rajkumar Gupta, RJD President Uday Yadav, Shashi Bhushan Singh, Ravi Gupta and a large number of social workers were present on the occasion. Amidst thousands of devotees in the grounds of Harishchandra Stadium, an effigy of Ravana built more than 50 feet high was shot with arrows and killed.
Speakers on the occasion said that the festival of Vijayadashami is the festival of victory of truth over untruth. Ravana is a symbol of truth and evil. That Ram is the symbol of truth. The Ravana slaying ceremony took place at Harishchandra Stadium in Nawada Nagar amid heavy security arrangements. The atmosphere echoed for a long time with the sound of firecrackers given to the effigy of Ravana. Lakhs of devotees gathered in Nawada city for Durga Puja. The crowd was so huge that even walking on the roads was becoming difficult. The District Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police themselves were walking on foot and taking stock of the conditions of the people who had come to the fair.
