Fazilka: Punjab Vigilance Bureau, during its anti-corruption campaign, on Tuesday arrested Mal Patwari Vinod Khairwa, posted at Mal Halka Gidrawali, Fazilka, red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 3,000. Revenue officer on the complaint of Amrik Singh, resident of village Ghallu in Fazilka district.
Giving more details in this regard, he said that the complainant has approached the Vigilance Bureau and alleged that the said Patwari has demanded a bribe of Rs 8,000 in return for giving copies of Fard of his ancestral land. The complainant further alleged that the said Patwari had already taken Rs 1000 and was demanding Rs 3000 as second installment of bribe.
It is being told that after preliminary investigation of this complaint, the Vigilance Bureau team laid a trap under which the accused Patwari was arrested red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 3,000 from the complainant in the presence of two government witnesses. In this regard, a case has been registered against the said revenue officer under the Prevention of Corruption Act at Vigilance Bureau Police Station Firozpur Range. He will be produced in the court tomorrow and further investigation into the case is underway. It is being told that the teams have taken the DVR installed at the dhaba with them for investigation.
