Vidisha: Under the Jal Ganga Conservation Campaign, the renovation work of wells and stepwells is going on in various villages of the district

Vidisha, 07 June (HS). Under the Namami Gange project, the implementation of repair and cleaning of water sources is going on in Vidisha district under the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan. Under the guidance of Collector Buddhesh Kumar Vaidya and District Panchayat CEO Dr. Yogesh Bharsat, the work of renovation of wells, stepwells and other water sources is going on in various gram panchayats of Vidisha district on Friday during the campaign period.

For water conservation today, along with the cleaning of the very ancient stepwell in Gram Panchayat Unarsital, cleaning of well in Gram Panchayat Sankalon, repair and cleaning work of water well in Gram Panchayat Bhalbamora, cleaning of very ancient stepwell in District Panchayat Kurwai, repair and cleaning work of stepwell in Gram Panchayat Cheekli and cleaning of very ancient stepwell in Gram Panchayat Manaura have been done. Public participation is also being ensured in the above works. On Friday, rural citizens have also ensured their participation in the renovation and cleaning works of water sources in various Gram Panchayats of the district.

Under the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan, along with Kua Bawdi, the construction of leachpits for water storage has also been started in many villages. The work of construction of leachpit in Gram Panchayat Uharkotra, construction of check dam in village Sherpur, new pond in Gram Panchayat Jagdhar and repair of pond constructed under Amrit Sarovar in Gram Panchayat Mohanpur has started.

Do barricading on flooded rivers and canals: Collector Vaidya

Collector Buddhesh Kumar Vaidya on Friday directed the concerned to identify areas prone to waterlogging and floods due to excessive rainfall and ensure necessary arrangements. He said that arrangements should be made for drainage of rainwater. Barricading should be done on both sides of the rivers and drains. Employees should be deployed 24 hours. He said that flood control control rooms should be established in all urban bodies, district panchayats including the district level and the numbers of these centers should be publicized as much as possible.

Collector Buddhesh Kumar Vaidya told the district that wherever waterlogging situation arises in urban areas, proper arrangements should be made immediately. The action plan of all other departments including Home Guard and Police Department, Municipality is fixed, special attention should be paid to avoid any mistake in its implementation. Flood control equipment and necessary arrangements should be ensured through the departments. Install measuring marks to measure the condition of waterlogging in rivers and dams. Information about the filling should be given to the control room located in the tehsil every day. In case of heavy rainfall, before releasing water from dams or ponds, officers of other departments including revenue, rural development will establish mutual coordination and issue information to the general public and ensure evacuation of the areas. Install temporary barriers and sign boards near bridges and culverts on the route of movement in flood affected villages.
