After tremendous uproar and sloganeering in Parliament during the winter session, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has made strong remarks regarding the responsibilities of MPs. He said that MPs will have to fix their accountability and the thinking of considering chaos as order in Parliament will have to be changed.
Vice President’s comment on accountability of MPs
Addressing the winners of the Chaudhary Charan Singh Award-2024, the Vice President stressed the importance of dialogue and debate in a democracy.
- He said that “the way the Parliament proceedings are going on, people have accepted chaos as order.”
- The Vice President appealed to the MPs to maintain the dignity of Parliament.
- He also warned that if the MPs did not play their role then the public would force them to think why they were sent to Parliament.
Deadlock in Parliament: Situation of winter session
Work in Parliament almost came to a standstill during the winter session.

- Allegations and counter-allegations: The party and the opposition kept accusing each other on various issues.

Vice President’s focus on agriculture sector
As Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, Vice President Dhankhar stressed the need for the development of agriculture.

The Vice President said that the Central Government is striving to make India a developed nation by 2047.

- The country’s per capita income will have to be increased eight times from the current level.
