Dharamshala, July 04 (HS). Himachal Pradesh Central University Vice Chancellor Prof. Sat Prakash Bansal has been elected as a member of the Governing Council for two years by the Association of Indian Universities. It is worth noting that the Association of Indian Universities has five zones across the country in which Prof. Bansal is known for his administrative efficiency and foresight as the senior Vice Chancellor of the North Zone. On this basis, he has been entrusted with the responsibility of a two-year appointment in the Governing Council of the Association of Indian Universities.
His vast experience as Vice Chancellor and his unprecedented contribution to the world of education at national and international level has been paramount. His selection in such a prestigious council in the world of education is a matter of pride not only for Himachal Pradesh but also for the northern region.
Prof. Sat Prakash Bansal has earlier served as administrator as former Vice Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh Technical University, Hamirpur, Indira Gandhi State University, Rewari and former founding Vice Chancellor of Bhagat Phool Singh Women's University, Khanpur Kalan, Sonepat and Maharaja Agrasen University, Solan, Himachal Pradesh.
Apart from these key responsibilities, Prof. Bansal is also a Governing Council Member of AIU (Association of Indian Universities), Chairman All India Board of Tourism & Hospitality Management, Chancellor (Vice Chairman) nominee of Panjab University, Chandigarh, Governing Council Member of National Law University, Himachal Pradesh, Board of Governors nominee of Indian Institute of Tourism & Travel Management (IITTM), Visitor (Chairman) nominee of Board of Governors of IIM Amritsar and LNIPE, Gwalior.
Prof. Bansal is also a member of various academic and administrative bodies of prestigious educational institutions of national importance. He is known as an “Institutional Builder” in the academic world. As a result of this, as an expert member of NEP-2020 Implementation Committees/Sub-Committees constituted by the University Grants Commission, Government of India, Ministry of Education, he has played a leading role in implementing various recommendations of NEP-2020 in various parts of the country. His experience and guidance associated with various top level educational bodies of the country like MoE, UGC, NAAC, AICTE, NCERT, AIU and MoT as an expert member and has been involved in almost every decision making process.
Prof. Sat Prakash Bansal is also the Chief Editor and Editor of various international and national journals. He has completed 11 research projects of national importance and has also published more than 30 books. Along with excellent academic and research work, he has also led the country by visiting more than 30 countries to enter into academic collaborations by signing MoUs with foreign educational institutions/universities.
In the field of education, 25 PhD scholars have completed their degrees under the guidance of Prof. Bansal. His remarkable contribution in the field of education has been decorated through various prestigious awards, including Life Time Achievement Award-2013 in Management Excellence by Himachal Pradesh Commerce and Management Association, Life Time Achievement Award-2015 in Tourism Education Excellence by Lyceum of Philippines University, Manila, Best Educationist Award-2020 by Himotkarsh Parishad, Himachal Pradesh, Most Iconic Vice Chancellor Award-2021, Global Excellence Award-2021 for Outstanding Academic Leaders by Global Chamber of Consumer Rights and Malaviya Pragya Samman-2022 by BHU, Varanasi. On the other hand, the teachers and students of the central university are happy and delighted with his selection.
