Vehicle washed away in drain in Tanakpur, Champawat, two women dead, six injured, one missing

Champawat, 09 August (HS). Two women died and 05 people were injured when a vehicle fell into the Kiraula drain in Tanakpur area of ​​Champawat district in Uttarakhand on Friday morning. One person is missing. There were nine people in the vehicle. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed grief over the incident and given necessary instructions for better treatment of the injured.

As soon as the information about the incident was received, Deputy District Magistrate Tanakpur Akash Joshi immediately reached the spot. Under the leadership of Deputy District Magistrate Tanakpur, SDRF and police personnel immediately reached the spot and carried out relief and rescue work.

According to the information received from the Disaster Operations Center, a Max vehicle which was going from Tanakpur to Purnagiri road, had a total of 09 people in it. It was swept away in the strong current due to a sudden surge in the Kirora drain. Out of which 07 people were rescued. They were sent to the Sub District Hospital Tanakpur through 108. In the accident, 14-year-old girl Balvinder Kaur and 24-year-old Soni died and the remaining injured are being treated at the Sub Hospital Tanakpur.

As soon as information was received about the incident, District Magistrate Navneet Pandey reached the spot (Kirauda Nala) and inspected it and after taking information regarding the rescue of a missing person, gave instructions to take necessary action. During this, the District Magistrate reached the sub-district hospital Tanakpur and enquired about the condition of the injured. He also gave necessary instructions to the Medical Superintendent for better treatment of the injured. In view of the possible disasters during the monsoon period, he instructed all the officers to remain ready for relief and rescue work for prevention of disaster incidents and to remain in alert mode by keeping the response time low.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his condolences to the deceased girls and gave necessary instructions to the District Magistrate for the best possible treatment of the injured. He has also instructed the District Magistrate to conduct a quick search for the missing persons.

In the incident Pawandeep Kaur daughter of Gurmeet, Amandeep Kaur daughter of Gurmeet, resident of village Hardujiya, Khatima Udham Singh Nagar, Seema daughter of Sukhwinder Singh resident of Vijaypur Pakadia Khatima, Umesh son of Khurshid resident of Ward 3 Verma Line Tehsil Purnagiri, Geeta Kathet daughter of Amar Singh resident of Khetkheda Tehsil Purnagiri are injured. They are being treated at Sub District Hospital Tanakpur. Purush Singh son of Prahlad Singh resident of Gedakhli has gone to his home Gedakhli after treatment. Chief Medical Officer Devesh Chauhan said that one of the injured has been referred to a higher center and the condition of the remaining injured persons is normal. Four injured women have been discharged.
