Vegetable prices have doubled in Mumbai's retail market

Mumbai: Due to the continuous rise in temperature, the water level has gone down in many places and there is a complete shortage of water in some places. Vegetable production has started decreasing due to the water supply to agricultural animals being affected. As a result, the prices of vegetables have doubled and the price rise is likely to continue till June-July.

The demand for vegetables in Mumbai has started increasing again as people are returning from picnics in their hometowns or holidays. Meanwhile, the income from vegetables has decreased. Till last week, the prices of vegetables had increased by 60 to 70 percent. But now it has come to light that it has been doubled. Currently, only 60 to 70 percent of vegetables are coming in the market. In the retail market, every vegetable has reached 80 to 100 rupees per kg.

Coriander which was available at Rs 20 per kg in the retail market has now become Rs 40, while the price of tomato has increased from Rs 40 to Rs 60-70. Green chillies have also reached Rs 120 per kg. Okra, tindola and bitter gourd have reached Rs 40 to 50 per kg. This is also affecting the housewives.
