The vegetable crops being prepared at different places in the district have been damaged due to weather changes and rain during the last two days. Vegetable growers have to work hard again. Bhata, tomato, okra, bitter gourd and other vegetable crops have fallen in the fields due to strong wind and rain.
Vegetable crops have been damaged due to unseasonal rain and wind storm. Regional farmers seem quite worried about this. Due to continuous moisture in the weather, farmers are fearing increase in pest diseases in the vegetable crops being prepared. Vegetable crops are produced on a large scale in all four blocks of Dhamtari district. In Dhamtari district, vegetable crops being prepared have suffered a lot due to unseasonal rains and strong winds. In many gardens, vegetable crops have fallen due to strong winds, while in some places the vegetable crops being prepared have broken and fallen. Similarly, flowers fell from plants at many places. This has greatly affected small and medium vegetable producing farmers.
Vegetable growers Rajni Vishwakarma, Shanti Vishwakarma, Bhagwati Sonkar, Savitri Sonkar of village Koliyari, Jeevarakhan Dewangan, Ram Kumar Dewangan of Aamdi, vegetable growers Revaram Sahu of Kharenga said that the vegetable crop has been damaged due to strong wind and unseasonal rain. The medicine put in the plants got washed away. Jethuram Senkar, Pawan Sonkar of Koliyari, Shyamu Sahu of village Khapri, Narottam Sahu of Potiyadih said that the crops of sweet potato, bitter gourd and tomato planted in the garden broke and fell into the ground. This has caused damage to the crop. Dinesh Kumar Sahu, President of the Farmers Club of village Demar, said that the paddy crop being prepared has also been damaged due to unseasonal rains. It becomes difficult to compensate for the damage caused by sudden rains and storms.
