Ranchi, August 19 (HS). Acharyakulam director Swami Divyadev, while establishing Sanskrit language as 'Devvaani', laid special emphasis on its spiritual and religious importance. Swami Divyadev said that Vedas, Upanishads, Gita and other religious texts written in Sanskrit language are the foundation of Indian culture.

He said that the study of Sanskrit is not just linguistic knowledge, but a path to self-realization and salvation. Swami Divyadev described Sanskrit as essential in the field of religion, yoga and meditation and presented it as a spiritual journey. Swami Divyadev was speaking on the occasion of World Sanskrit Day at a grand function organized on Monday under the joint aegis of Sanskrit Department of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University, Ranchi, Sanskrit Bharati and Sanskrit Seva Sangh.

The special guest of the program, Ranchi University's Humanities Department Head Prof. Archana Kumari Dubey discussed the influence of Sanskrit on Indian languages. She said that Jharkhand is a multilingual state, where various languages ​​and dialects are spoken. Sanskrit's historical and cultural influence on these languages ​​is significant. Although the direct influence of Sanskrit from the grammatical point of view is limited, however, the structure of these languages ​​has diversified through Tatsam and Tadbhav words. Prof. Dubey said that moving away from Sanskrit is moving away from our culture and today when the dominance of consumerist culture is increasing, Sanskrit becomes even more relevant at such a time.

Dr. Shailesh Kumar Mishra, President of Jharkhand Sanskrit Academy, highlighted the literary and philosophical aspects of Sanskrit literature. He said that apart from religious and spiritual texts, Sanskrit also has very important literature on subjects like science, medicine, and mathematics. Dr. Mishra underlined the multifaceted contribution of Sanskrit by mentioning Panini's 'Ashtadhyayi', Charak Samhita, and the contributions of Aryabhatta. He said that the study of Sanskrit language is not only helpful in understanding our past, but it also guides us towards a prosperous and balanced future.

In his presidential address, Dr. Dhananjay Vasudev Dwivedi, Head of Sanskrit Department, expressed his views on the utility of Sanskrit language in the modern context. He said that Sanskrit is not only a heritage of the past, but it is equally relevant in today's era. Through Sanskrit, we can not only preserve our cultural values, but can also apply it in modern science and technical fields. Dwivedi said that the study of Sanskrit is an important heritage for Indian youth, which they should adopt with pride.

For the upliftment of Sanskrit, Dr. Dwivedi stressed the need to teach it as a compulsory subject at school and college level. He said that studying simple grammar, shlokas and literature of Sanskrit at the initial level can generate interest in this language among students. Sanskrit literature and texts should be translated into different languages ​​and made available to the general public, so that people can understand the importance of Sanskrit and be inspired to study it. He also emphasized on measures to make Sanskrit available on digital platforms.

Sanskrit Bharati's provincial education chief Chandramadhav Singh stressed on the antiquity and scientific nature of Sanskrit language. He said that Sanskrit is not just a language, but it is the soul of Indian culture and civilization. The knowledge contained in Sanskrit language has given many important ideologies to the world. He stressed on the need to spread awareness for the preservation of Sanskrit and to attract the youth towards this language.

Dr. Seema Chaudhary, professor of Hindi department of Marwari Mahavidyalaya, threw light on the importance of Sanskrit language. Dr. Jang Bahadur Pandey, retired professor of Hindi department of Ranchi University, spoke about the widespread use of Sanskrit language.

The program started with lighting of lamps and Vedic invocation. After this, the atmosphere was made more sacred and spiritual by reciting Sanskrit songs and Shanti Mantra.
