Vastu Shastra Tips: Those who keep the windows of their house closed day and night should be alert, its 5 serious disadvantages are mentioned in Vastu.

Due to modern lifestyle, increasing air pollution, dust and the trend of air-conditioned (AC) rooms, today most of the people have started keeping the windows of their houses closed day and night. In many flats and houses, curtains remain drawn for weeks and window panes remain closed. From a scientific point of view, this habit causes lack of fresh oxygen in the house and indoor air pollution, but in Vastu Shastra, it is considered an extremely inauspicious and destructive defect. According to Vastu Shastra, if doors are the ‘mouth’ of the house, then windows are considered the ‘eyes and lungs’ of the house. It is through windows that cosmic positive waves, life-giving rays of the Sun and vital energy enter the house. When the windows of a house are kept closed for 24 hours, the energy there gets stagnant, which is called ‘Stagnant Energy’. This stagnation directly affects the health, career, financial prosperity and mental peace of the members living in the house.

The basic principle of Vaastu science is based on the continuous and uninterrupted flow of energy. At night, the levels of carbon dioxide, sweat and radiation emitted from various electronic devices increase indoors. When the windows are opened in the morning, the stale and negative energy goes out and fresh life air comes in. If the windows remain closed day and night, the same negative vibrations start getting absorbed into the walls, corners and furniture. In such houses, there is often an atmosphere of tension without any concrete reason, irritability develops without any reason among the family members and a situation of domestic discord starts arising over trivial matters. Due to lack of positive energy the entire aura of the house gets polluted.

There is a clear belief in Sanatan Dharma and Vastu Shastra that Goddess Lakshmi and Lord of wealth Kuber reside only in the house where light, clean air and positive vibrations are present. Especially the north and east direction of the house is considered the entrance of the gods. The north direction is dominated by the wealthy Kuber and the planet Buddha, which are the factors of business and financial gain. When the north and east facing windows are kept closed, new financial opportunities, job promotions and business profits come to a complete halt. The accumulated wealth starts getting wasted in unnecessary medicines, legal matters or unexpected expenses. In such a house, the debt burden gradually increases and even after continuous hard work, the financial condition does not improve.

According to Vastu, Sun God is the direct God and the provider of health and respect. When the first sunlight of the morning enters the house through the east or north-east (northeast) windows, it destroys all the germs, bacteria and subtle negative impurities in the environment. If natural light does not reach the house due to the windows being closed, then there will be an atmosphere of darkness and dampness. In Vaastu, darkness and dampness are directly linked to the shadow planets Rahu and Ketu. In houses where sunlight does not reach, the members of the house have to face mental problems like fear of the unknown, insomnia, anxiety, headache and depression. Especially it has the worst effect on children’s concentration and studies.

According to the directions in Vastu Shastra, some specific rules for opening and closing windows have been mentioned, following which helps in eliminating Vastu defects:

  • North and East facing windows: North, east and north-east (north-east) windows must be opened in the morning at the time of sunrise (between 5:30 am and 9:00 am). This is the time of Amrit Vela and transmission of divine energy. If these windows are kept open throughout the day, they attract knowledge, prosperity and good health.

  • South and West facing windows: In Vastu, South (direction of Yama and Mars) and West (direction of Saturn) are considered heavy and stable. After 12 noon when the sun’s rays become extremely intense and infrared, south and west windows should be covered or kept closed. These can be opened for some time in the morning for ventilation, but after evening it is better to keep the south facing window closed.

  • Evening rule: In the evening (twilight), when day and night meet, all the windows of the house should be opened completely for about 15 to 20 minutes and smoke of camphor or Google should be shown, so that the negativity of the day can come out. After this, light curtains should be drawn on the windows before sleeping at night.

If the design of your house or flat is such that windows cannot be kept open always due to dust or noise, then some simple measures can be taken to reduce the ill effects of Vaastu Dosh. In the morning, open all the windows with nets for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour so that fresh air can circulate. Always keep the window glasses clean, because dirty and foggy glasses increase Rahu Dosha. To avoid the problem of creaking or sound while opening or closing the window, add oil to it regularly because the harsh sound coming from the windows causes discord in the house. Keep rock salt in a glass bowl near the window, which absorbs the stale energy in the house. Apart from this, keeping a Tulsi plant or money plant on the window sill of North and East direction increases the flow of positive energy manifold.
