Mumbai: Varum Dhawan’s ‘Baby John’ barely earned Rs 12 crore on the first day. Due to poor reviews, the film did not receive the expected Christmas holiday boost. Three weeks old ‘Pushpa Two’ got better collections than that. The film is a remake of the original Vijay Thalapathy’s Theri. ‘Theri’ is also available online in Hindi and people have watched it. That’s why people are not particularly interested in ‘Baby John’. ‘Baby John’ earned only Rs 3.52 crore in advance booking. Film circles claimed that earnings were affected due to fewer days available for advance booking.
The budget of ‘Baby John’ is 185 crores. But, the reviews of the film are not good. Apart from this, Varun Dhawan does not have such a big fan base that a film can be made in his name.
