The religious city Varanasi is once again going to witness a historic and grand event. An exciting air show of Indian Air Force aircraft is going to be organized in the sky of river Ganga, in which the country’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also participate. During this three-day grand air-show, strict security and order arrangements have been made in the city, under which traffic on Rajghat bridge will be closed and operation of boats in Ganga will also be banned. Apart from the surrounding districts of Uttar Pradesh, modern and conventional aircraft of the Air Force from Bihar and Jharkhand will also participate in this mega event.

A detailed plan of this air show to be organized on the occasion of the Foundation Day of the Indian Air Force has been prepared. Prayagraj based officials of the Air Force have clarified the outline by holding a meeting with the district administration and all the stakeholders at the Circuit House. This spectacular show will be organized over the Ganga between the famous Namo Ghat of Varanasi and Assi Ghat. Every day between 12 noon and 2 pm, an exciting sight will be seen in the sky for about one and a half hours, where 3 to 5 aircraft will be seen performing acrobatics in the air simultaneously. More than 100 new and old fighter planes and helicopters will be included in this display.
Namo Ghat will be closed for general public from October 16, huge crowd will gather
Namo Ghat will be the focal point of this main event, from where air traffic will be monitored and the entire program will be broadcast. In view of security and preparedness, the entry of common people at Namo Ghat will be completely banned from October 16 itself. The administration estimates that a huge crowd of 15 to 25 lakh may gather to watch this mega event. Along with Varanasi, the help of administrative staff and police forces of Chandauli, Ghazipur and Jaunpur is also being taken to handle crowd management and security arrangements. Apart from this, strict arrangements are being made to welcome and provide security to about 5,000 VIPs and special tourists coming from India and abroad.
Due to security reasons, boat operations in Rajghat bridge and Ganga will remain closed.
Special restrictions have been imposed during the air-show keeping in mind the stringent safety standards. Road and rail traffic will be completely stopped on Rajghat bridge for two hours at the scheduled time of the show on all three days of the event. Along with this, there will be a complete ban on operation of boats in river Ganga for safety reasons. Along with police forces, paramilitary forces will be deployed at the ghats and there will be strong barricading arrangements along the banks of the Ganga so that the spectators can safely enjoy this historic air-show.
