Warrant Officer Gunanand Chaubey, son of Haridutt Chaubey, resident of Chaubey village Sui in Lohaghat and posted in Assam Rifles, was martyred in a sudden attack by militants in Manipur on the morning of 12 August. The village head said that Gunanand Chaubey was posted as a warrant officer in the 22nd Battalion Assam Rifles in Manipur. Currently his family lives in Delhi. Martyr Gunanand has left behind his wife, two daughters and a son.
The residents of the area have expressed grief on the news of martyrdom of Jawan Gunandan Chaubey. People are reaching the martyr's ancestral home to console his family. The martyr's body is currently kept in the Assam Rifles Camp. The necessary action is being taken by the army. After this, the martyr's body will be handed over to the family for last rites with military honors.
