Uttarakhand Weather Today: Alert of heavy rain in Dehradun-Nainital! Big danger will loom on 28th and 29th July

The pace of monsoon has once again increased in Uttarakhand. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains in many hilly and plain districts of the state today, 26 July 2026. According to the latest forecast of IMD, torrential rains may be recorded at isolated places in sensitive areas like Dehradun and Nainital today.

Meteorologists estimate that this period of rain, which started from July 26, may become more severe on July 28 and 29, when torrential rains may become a disaster in the hilly districts.

In which districts alert was issued today?

According to Meteorological Center Dehradun, an alert of heavy rain has been issued in Dehradun, Bageshwar, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Tehri and Nainital districts on July 26.

During this period, there is a strong possibility of strong winds blowing at a speed of 50 kilometers per hour and lightning in the mountainous and plain areas. Due to continuous rain, the temperature will drop, which will provide relief to the local people from the humid heat.

Danger will increase on 28th and 29th July

According to the Meteorological Department, the intensity of rain in the state will increase further from July 27. ‘Heavy to Very Heavy’ rainfall has been predicted in high mountain and sensitive areas like Bageshwar, Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Pithoragarh on July 28 and 29.

In view of this, the local administration has advised people living in landslide affected areas and on the banks of rivers to remain alert.

Condition of Dehradun and plains

Today in the capital Dehradun, the sky will be densely cloudy throughout the day and heavy showers may occur in some areas. The maximum temperature in Dehradun today is likely to be 31 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is likely to be 24 degrees Celsius.

Apart from this, plains districts like Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar may also experience monsoon showers accompanied by thunderstorms. There is a danger of landslides and blockage of sensitive roads due to heavy rains in the mountainous areas, hence passengers have been instructed to be cautious.
