Dehradun, March 12 (HS). Congress has announced candidates for three out of five Lok Sabha seats in Uttarakhand for the Lok Sabha elections. Congress has fielded Ganesh Godiyal from Garhwal, Jot Singh Gunsola from Tehri Garhwal and Pradeep Tamta from Almora. Now the names of two candidates each remain to be finalized from both the major parties of Uttarakhand. The dilemma continues between both the parties regarding Haridwar, while Congress has to decide on Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has to decide on Garhwal seat. BJP has fielded Ajay Bhatt from Nainital, Ajay Tamta from Almora and Mala Rajya Lakshmi Shah from Tehri seat.
Among the three candidates, Congress has again fielded Pradeep Tamta from Almora seat. He also contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Almora (Reserved) seat and was defeated by BJP's Ajay Tamta. Former state president of Congress Ganesh Godiyal has been made the candidate from Garhwal Lok Sabha. In the last Lok Sabha, Manish Khanduri was contesting from Congress. Manish Khanduri has resigned from Congress and joined BJP. Chakrata MLA and former Congress state president Karan Mahara was in the election fray from Tehri Garhwal Lok Sabha seat and he had to defeat BJP's Maharani Mala Rajya Lakshmi Shah. This time Congress has made Jot Singh Gunsola the party candidate from Tehri Lok Sabha.
