Uttarakhand Chief Secretary said- there should be public participation in Swachhata Hi Seva campaign | News India

Dehradun, 05 September (HS). For the effective and successful implementation of Swachhata Hi Seva Abhiyan, Chief Secretary Radha Raturi directed the officials to ensure public participation, awareness and advocacy across the state. She said that a large scale cleanliness campaign should be run at public and commercial places, offices, institutions, roads, highways, markets, trekking, camping places and other tourist and religious places.

The Chief Secretary directed to set up single window camps for health checkup and social security coverage of Safai Mitras. He also directed to ensure the participation of self-help groups and NGOs in the campaign. To solve the problem of debris on the Chardham routes, the Chief Secretary directed to identify suitable places for dumping zones on the Chardham route. Along with this, the Drinking Water Secretary and District Magistrates have been instructed to inspect and check all STPs. He also instructed all the District Magistrates to make proper arrangements to connect all STPs to the drainage system.

Instructing to work sensitively on the issue of social security and insurance of Safai Mitras, the Chief Secretary directed the District Magistrates to organize single window camps on a large scale for Safai Mitras during the Swachhata Hi Seva Abhiyan and increase their access to social security and link them with welfare schemes. He directed the Health Department to organize health camps for Safai Mitras and provide them information about health and medical services, tests and treatment along with welfare schemes of all other related departments.

Instructions for Green Leaf Rating of all hotels and homestays in the state

Describing the Green Leaf rating of all hotels and homestays in the state as extremely important from the point of view of cleanliness and environmental protection, the Chief Secretary directed the Tourism Department to take immediate action in this regard. He directed to strictly follow the standards of cleanliness in the case of cloud kitchens.

Garbage bags are mandatory in all vehicles

In order to make the system of making garbage bags mandatory in all vehicles in the state effective, Chief Secretary Radha Raturi directed the Uttarakhand Pollution Control Board along with the Transport and Police departments to actively carry out checking campaigns.

It is known that Swachhata Hi Seva Abhiyan 2024 is a nationwide cleanliness initiative of the Government of India, which will be conducted from September 17 to October 2. This year, under the theme of Swachhata Hi Seva Abhiyan 'Swabhaav Swachhata-Sanskar Swachhata', emphasis is being laid on promoting cleanliness as a part of behavior. This fortnight-long campaign will have extensive participation of the district administration and the state government. This will develop a collaborative and coordinated approach towards cleanliness across the state. Secretary Shailesh Bagauli, Additional Secretary Nitin Bhadauria, officials of Urban Development, Drinking Water, Tourism Department and all District Magistrates were present in the meeting through virtual medium.
