Lucknow, 13 November (HS). Uttar Pradesh ranks first in issuing job cards to rural families. So far, job cards have been issued to 1,59,04,869 families in the state. Under the leadership and direction of Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Keshav Prasad Maurya, the work of all-round development of villages is going on at an uninterrupted pace.

The objective of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme is to provide employment opportunities to the unemployed and deprived sections of rural areas. The scheme guarantees “right to work” for the unemployed and those in need of employment. Continuous efforts are being made to increase livelihood in rural areas by providing at least 100 days of wage employment in a financial year. Sitapur district has so far issued job cards to the maximum number of families in the state.

Let us tell you that this card contains all the details related to the registered person. This includes the person’s name, MNREGA registration number, family details, etc. This job card also plays the role of proof of the individual’s entitlement under the scheme. Under the MNREGA Act, ‘right to work’ is compulsorily available. There is also a provision to give daily unemployment allowance to the worker if work is not given within 15 days of registration.
