Uttar Pradesh has an important role in the politics of the country. Which was proved once again in this Lok Sabha election. What happened this time in UP, which voted for BJP in the last two Lok Sabha elections, was a huge shock. BJP lost majority. This time in UP, not only the seats have decreased but the vote share has also increased. In the 2019 elections, BJP got 49.6 percent votes from UP, which fell to 41.4 percent. Yogi Adityanath's Gorakhpur and PM Modi's Varanasi also failed to get more votes for BJP.
Voting percentage decreased in UP
This time in UP, many people did not come out of their homes to vote. In many seats, the number of votes was less, ranging from one thousand to 2.2 lakh. As the number of voters increased, the percentage of voting decreased. Voting also declined in Rajnath Singh's constituency Lucknow and Faizabad seats. Apart from this, voting was also less in Amethi and Rae Bareli. The Lok Sabha constituencies where more voting took place this time include Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bareilly and Kaushambi. BJP's vote share in these seats has also decreased compared to the last election.
According to the Times of India report, in 2019, BJP got 4.3 crore votes out of 8.6 crore votes in UP. This time, it got only 3.6 crore votes out of 8.8 crore votes. One reason for this is that this time BJP did not contest the elections on the three Lok Sabha seats on which it contested last time. These include Bijnor, Baghpat and Ghosi seats. But even if we talk about only 75 seats, BJP got 50 lakh less votes this time. On an average, there was a loss of about 67 thousand votes on each seat.
BJP lost more than one lakh votes in 12 seats like Mathura, Aligarh, Muzaffarnagar, Fatehpur Sikri. Apart from this, more than 50 thousand votes were lost in 36 seats. These include Amethi, Rae Bareli, Allahabad, Ghaziabad, Mainpuri and Varanasi. This time Prime Minister Modi got 60 thousand votes less in Varanasi. Last time, BSP had won these 75 seats. This time SP and Congress won. Chandrashekhar won from Nagina seat.
