Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission conducted hearing on electricity rates


Lucknow, 08 July (HS). Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission held a hearing on electricity rates in the presence of electricity consumers. In the presence of Electricity Regulatory Commission Chairman Arvind Kumar, Member Sanjay Kumar, everyone presented their views in the hearing on electricity rates. Kesco Company Managing Director Samuel Pal gave his presentation on this occasion.

On this occasion, the Consumer Council said that the Chief Minister of the state Yogi Adityanath should get a CBI inquiry done in the power purchase case. For this, the Regulatory Commission should also request the government because 2951 million units of electricity were purchased for the power companies of the state in the year 2023-24 for Rs 2741 crore and the Power Corporation sold its surplus plus 6397 million units of electricity for only Rs 2765 crore.

The Consumer Council said that Rs 33122 crore of consumers is still a surplus on the electricity companies. In return, there can be no power cuts for five years. Apart from this, the Consumer Council also raised the issues of 24 hour electricity and contract workers. Finally, the Chairman of the Electricity Regulatory Commission Arvind Kumar directed the electricity companies to advertise loudly and compensate the consumers for consumer service.
