Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Chairman Dr. Ashish Goyal said on Thursday that under the guidance and intention of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Energy Minister, for the first time in the state, 24-hour electricity is being supplied to consumers in summer. Due to extreme temperature and heat, the demand for electricity is setting new records every day and due to the hard work of the power workers, records of supply are also being made. On June 11, the highest electricity demand in the history of the state reached 29,820 MW. Electricity consumption also reached about 643 MU. This record was broken on June 12 and a new record was made.
On 24 July 2023, the maximum demand of 28,284 MW was recorded, but this time this record was broken in the month of May itself when the demand of up to 28,336 MW was supplied on 22 May. Dr. Goyal has again directed the officials to be cautious in view of the severe heat and increasing demand for electricity. All personnel should discharge their responsibilities with full dedication and hard work in this challenging time. Pick up the phone, patrol the area and take immediate action on the information received on toll free number 1912. The Chairman said that the Power Corporation has made arrangements for power availability as per the forecast and additional arrangements are also being made timely when the demand increases. Rostering is not being done anywhere due to the capacity of the system. In case of disruption of power supply due to local fault, the electricity workers are trying to restore the supply by fixing it in the shortest possible time.
