Vadodara News: The terror of moneylenders has once again been seen in Vadodara city. Earlier, as per the orders of State Home Minister Harsh Shanghvi, a campaign was launched across the state to curb usury. However, after this campaign the moneylenders have raised their heads again. Then a businessman in Vadodara, fed up with the terror of the same moneylender, tried to commit suicide.

The situation in Vadodara has become such that the police has failed to curb the terror of moneylenders. Even before this, many people have lost their lives in the clutches of moneylenders. There have also been cases of some helpless people attempting suicide.

In Vadodara, once again fed up with the recovery of moneylenders being run by the police, a businessman has tried to commit suicide by swallowing poison. Nareshbhai, who does wholesale business of fruits in Khanderao market, borrowed Rs 47 lakh from a person named Santosh Bhavsar from 2012 to 2018, who was paying the money on interest at a high interest rate in 2012. Still, this usurer acted like a hungry wolf, extorting money from the fruit merchant by asking him to withdraw the remaining money every night.

On November 28, Santosh Bhavsar went to the businessman’s shop and demanded Rs 47,00,000 lakh and threatened to harm his family if the money was not given.

Moneylender Santosh pressured me to give him the keys of his fruit shop, if the businessman made such a demand then I would have to commit suicide. Then the usurer said, “If you want to die, then die, don’t threaten me.” The shopkeeper swallowed poison inside the shop and tried to commit suicide. His son and the employees present in the shop immediately took him to a private hospital for treatment. While the Navapura police took the statement of the shopkeeper, the businessman alleges that no complaint has been registered yet.
