US suspects Iran supplied ballistic missiles to Russia | News India

Washington: The US has informed its allies that it suspects Iran has supplied short-range ballistic missiles to Russia for use in the war against Ukraine. The information, based on intelligence inputs, has not been widely publicised and details of the number and timing of the missile transfers have not been made clear. While the White House has not confirmed the transfer, it has expressed concern over Iran's growing support for Russia and warned that such actions could lead to casualties and threaten European unity.

This US analysis comes amid Ukraine's aggressive stance to snatch vital areas from Russia. Ukrainian President Zelensky has increased pressure on the West to provide missiles that can penetrate deep into Russian territory.

Meanwhile, Iran has rejected the US allegations, saying it is not providing arms to any party in the conflict and expects others to do the same. Iran further said that in its view, providing arms in such conflicts could be considered inhumane and could prove counterproductive to ceasefire talks.

On the other hand, the US is concerned about the growing defense cooperation between Russia, Iran, China and North Korea. CIA Director Williams Burns called this problematic cooperation a threat to world peace, Ukraine, the West and the Middle East.

Meanwhile, Iran continues to provide drones to Russia and ammunition and missiles to North Korea. Although China has refrained from supplying such weapons to Russia, it has increased sales to Russia of technology used in the production of military equipment.
