Speaking to reporters before leaving Joint Base Andrews to attend the Republican midterm conference in Dallas, Texas, Trump predicted that the ongoing war against Iran will end soon after the US midterm elections in November. “I think this war will end immediately after the election because they (Iran) can’t hold out much longer,” Trump said.
Trump alleged that Tehran was deliberately prolonging the conflict to influence American voters. According to him, Iran is hoping that through the November elections, such ‘weak’ people will come to power in Washington who will ease the sanctions imposed on it and it will get a chance to develop nuclear weapons. Trump stressed that Iran’s entire strategy revolves only around acquiring nuclear capability, which the US will not tolerate under any circumstances. When asked whether the US would immediately begin diplomatic talks, he clarified that Washington is in no hurry as Iran’s position has been significantly weakened by recent military and economic strikes.
Trump also expressed his views on the question of Brent crude crossing $100 per barrel in the international market due to the Iran crisis and the rise in petrol prices in America. He said that once the war ends, fuel prices will come down rapidly. It is noteworthy that there is dissatisfaction among American voters regarding this military conflict, which has entered its seventh month, and rising inflation, which has created political challenges for the Republican Party in the midterm elections to be held on November 3. However, Trump expressed confidence that this situation will soon become normal.
