The Home Ministry of the Government of India issued a notification on March 11 regarding the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act in the country. After the implementation of this law, many civil rights groups, including the United Nations, have expressed concern that it discriminates against Muslims.
America has reacted to the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in India. On Thursday, the US said it is concerned about India issuing a notice to implement the Citizenship Amendment Act. Along with this, she has said that she is keeping a close watch on law enforcement. “We are concerned about the March 11 notification of the Citizenship Amendment Act,” a US State Department spokesperson told reporters on Thursday.
In response to a question, Miller said, “We are closely monitoring the implementation of this law.” Freedom of religion and equal treatment of all communities under the law are fundamental democratic principles. Let us tell you that the United Nations had also criticized the implementation of CAA in India and called it discriminatory. At the same time, civil rights groups also expressed concern about the law, which India has rejected.
India dismissed the apprehensions
Union Home Minister Amit Shah had earlier dismissed all doubts and said that the new law was brought only to protect officials from oppressing minorities. Which were once a part of undivided India and it does not take away anyone's rights.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, I have spoken in detail about CAA for at least 41 minutes on various forums and the minorities of the country need not be afraid of it. There is no provision in this Act to take away the rights of any citizen. The CAA aims to provide Indian citizenship to non-Muslim minorities, Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Parsis and Christians who fled to India from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan before December 31, 2014. Under this law their troubles can end.
