Urges youth to take part in sports enthusiastically

Jammu, July 1 (HS). Former minister and state BJP vice-president Surjit Singh Slathia on Monday called upon the youth to participate in sports in an active manner, saying it not only helps in achieving physical fitness but also opens up opportunities for career advancement. Speaking at the prize distribution ceremony of the district volleyball tournament finals at Mandi Sangwali in Samba, Slathia said that the skills and values ​​acquired from sports are incredible in today's competitive world.

Congratulating the winning and runner-up teams, he said, each one of us should play our role in promoting sports and help the youth lead a successful, healthy and holistic life. In the final, Barzani Volleyball Club was the winner and Balori Volleyball Club was the runner-up. However, Salathia congratulated both the sides and other participating teams for giving their best performance in the game. Describing victory and defeat as a part of the game, he said that the basic mantra of competition is to set high goals to achieve the goal. He hoped that the excellent performance of the players will inspire the youth to participate in sports and they will perform their best according to their interest towards their favorite sports.

He further added that sports play a vital role in mental health management, helping to reduce stress, anxiety and depression. Moreover, sports encourage positive attitude, resilience and mental toughness, which are important in dealing with life's challenges. It also increases camaraderie and instills discipline among the players.
