Essential qualification and age limit for the post of Principal
To apply for 124 posts of Principal, it is mandatory for the candidates to have the following qualifications:

Must have a graduation degree from a recognized university.

Must have completed Master’s Degree from a recognized institute or university.

Must have at least 10 years of regular service experience as a Vice Principal, PGT or TGT teacher in a recognized High School, Higher Secondary, Senior Secondary School or Intermediate College.

Age Limit: The maximum age for General and EWS category candidates has been fixed at 50 years. OBC category candidates are allowed to apply up to 53 years and SC/ST candidates are allowed up to 55 years. The maximum age limit for disabled (PwBD) candidates has been kept at 56 years.
Qualification and age limit for Vice Principal post
The eligibility conditions prescribed for 704 posts of Vice Principal are as follows:

Must have obtained Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.

Along with this, it is also necessary to complete Master’s Degree.

There should be minimum 2 years of teaching experience on the post of Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) or at least 3 years of teaching experience on the post of Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT).

Age Limit: The maximum age has been fixed at 35 years for General and EWS candidates, 38 years for OBC and 40 years for SC/ST candidates. As per rules for the disabled category, the maximum age limit will be 56 years with relaxation of 10 years.
Selection Process: Written Examination and Interview
Selection for these posts will be completed by UPSC in two main phases:

Combined Recruitment Test (CRT): In the first phase, candidates will have to appear in the Combined Recruitment Test in pen and paper mode (offline).

Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for interview on the basis of performance in the written examination. This interview will be of 100 marks, the schedule of which will be released separately by the Commission. At the time of interview, candidates will have to bring the printout of their online application form and all original educational and experience related documents for verification.
