As soon as the written examination results are released, candidates often have curiosity about their individual marks and subject wise marks. In this regard, as per the rules laid down by the Union Public Service Commission, detailed mark sheets or scorecards of the candidates are not issued immediately after the written examination. It has been clarified by the Commission that the marksheet and cutoff details of the candidates will be made public only after the declaration of the final result. The scorecard link will be activated on the Commission’s website within about 15 days after the entire SSB interview process and medical test is completed and the final selection list is out. After this, candidates will be able to know the total marks they have secured in Mathematics and General Aptitude Test (GAT) using their registration number, roll number and date of birth.

Getting success in the written examination is the first step in the selection process, the real and decisive competition will now be in front of the Service Selection Board (SSB). As per the instructions of the Commission, it is mandatory for all the candidates successful in the written examination to complete their online registration by visiting the official recruitment portal of the Indian Army, joinindianarmy.nic.in, within exactly two weeks (14 days) from the date of release of the result. Candidates who have already registered need to update their profile with the same login details. Candidates who do not register on the portal within the prescribed time limit will not be allotted center and batch for SSB interview and their candidature may be considered cancelled. After successful registration, information about the date and venue of the interview will be sent to the candidates on their registered email and mobile number.

SSB Interview is not just a test of bookish knowledge, rather it deeply examines the candidate’s personality, leadership ability, ability to take quick decisions, team spirit and mental balance in adverse situations. The interview lasts for five days, with a screening test and OIR (Officers Intelligence Rating) test on the first day. Candidates who pass the screening have to undergo a series of Psychological Tests, Group Testing Officers Tasks (GTO Tasks) and Personal Interview over the next four days. It includes tasks such as group discussion, military planning, lectureship and individual obstacle races. Candidates who are recommended by the SSB Board will eventually have to undergo intensive medical tests at Army Base Hospitals only to pave the way for admission to the prestigious National Defense Academy (Khadakwasla) or Indian Naval Academy (Ezhimala), Pune.

Those candidates who for some reason have missed a place in the merit list this time by some marks, there is no need to be disappointed at all. UPSC conducts NDA exam twice every year to become an officer in the defense sector. Candidates should analyze the experiences gained from this examination, identify their weaknesses and start preparing with new energy for the upcoming session by working on the weak areas of Mathematics and General Knowledge. Regular mock tests, constant study of newspapers and maintaining physical fitness will prove to be a milestone in achieving final success next time.
