There has been an uproar over the removal of the temple from the official residence of Madhya Pradesh High Court Chief Justice Suresh Kumar Kait. The High Court Bar Association has expressed strong objection to the removal of the temple. Now the lawyers’ organization has complained to the country’s Chief Justice Justice Sanjeev Khanna on this issue.
The Bar Association has written a letter to CJI Khanna demanding an investigation into the matter and action against those responsible for the incident. According to the letter written to the CJI, there was a Hanuman temple in the official bungalow of the Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court. Many former Chief Justices of the High Court used to worship in this bungalow, including Justice SA Bobde, Justice AM Khanwilkar and Justice Hemant Gupta. All these judges were later promoted and went to the Supreme Court. Apart from him, many employees working at the Chief Justice’s residence also used to worship in the temple. It has been said in the complaint letter that before Justice Kaitani, there were many Muslim Chief Justices but they never raised any objection against it.
The temple was considered government property
According to the report of Bar and Bench, the Bar Association has said in a letter to the CJI that both the Chief Justice’s bungalow and the temple built in that bungalow are government properties. The temple has also been rebuilt several times with government funds. Therefore, it should not have been broken without the approval of the government or any legal order. The letter also said that since the Chief Justice and the employees following Sanatan Dharma live in that bungalow, they will not have to waste their precious time by going far for their religious worship. Such an act is an insult to the followers of Sanatan Dharma.
