After the grand inauguration of Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS 2026) organized at India Expo Center and Mart, Greater Noida, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken very aggressive initiatives at the diplomatic and industrial levels to take the economic development of the state to the global horizon. The Chief Minister on Friday chaired a special round table meeting with high-level delegations from leading industrialized countries of the world. In this high-level meeting, point-by-point discussions were held with ambassadors, trade commissioners and leading investors from partner countries like Singapore, Vietnam, Russia, Belarus, Japan and Austria on the possibilities of capital investment, technology transfer and joint ventures in Uttar Pradesh. Presenting the industrial strength of Uttar Pradesh before the global delegates, CM Yogi said that the huge population of about 25 crores, the country’s largest consumer market, more than 56 percent energetic youth workforce, fertile agricultural land and abundant water resources make Uttar Pradesh today the safest and most profitable investment destination for the world’s multinational companies.
During the dialogue session with the high-level delegation of Vietnam, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath gave a direct open invitation to the companies of the South-East Asian country to invest in the fast-growing aviation and manufacturing sectors of Uttar Pradesh. The Chief Minister called upon Vietnamese industrial houses to set up their units especially in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) area. He underlined that the country’s largest Noida International Airport in Jewar is now on the verge of becoming fully functional and regular operation of international flights will start from here soon. To convert this opportunity into business advantage, CM Yogi made a far-reaching strategic proposal and said that direct flight services should be started from Lucknow, Varanasi and Noida to major industrial centers like Vietnam’s capital Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. This will not only give a new impetus to two-way trade contacts between the two countries, but will also lead to unprecedented expansion of international religious tourism in Uttar Pradesh due to Buddhist pilgrimage sites.
The round table meeting with the Trade Commissioner of the Russian Federation and the official delegation outlined broad cooperation in the strategic, defense and pharmaceutical sectors. Welcoming the official participation of Russia in the trade show, the Chief Minister said that the historical friendship between India and Russia is now taking concrete form in the industrial corridors of Uttar Pradesh. Referring to the Defense Industrial Corridor being developed in Uttar Pradesh, he said that a state-of-the-art manufacturing unit of BrahMos supersonic cruise missile has already been established in the node of the capital Lucknow, while successful large-scale production of state-of-the-art Russian Kalashnikov AK-203 assault rifles is going on in Korwa, Amethi. The Chief Minister also invited Russian defense companies to set up units of their advanced weapons and aerospace components in the Kanpur node of the defense corridor. Along with this, he offered Russian companies to set up their Research and Development (R&D) centers in the huge Medical Device Park being built near Jewar Airport and the Mega Bulk Drug Park being set up in Lalitpur, Bundelkhand.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, in his conversation with the Russian delegation, described agriculture and chemical fertilizer sector as a very important pillar of cooperation. He said that Uttar Pradesh is the ‘food basket’ of entire India, where the fertile land of Ganga-Yamuna Doab and the rich water system of perennial rivers are the backbone of agricultural production. In the current global geopolitical turmoil, partnership between the two parties is the need of the hour to support agro-based food processing industries and maintain uninterrupted fertilizer supply chains. CM said that Uttar Pradesh is the largest center of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) in the country. The State Government is fully prepared to develop such specialized industrial platforms and trade facilitation centers where regular bilateral economic, import-export and technical dialogue can be institutionalized with the member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
In a special session held with representatives of the Eastern European nation of Belarus, the Chief Minister presented a detailed roadmap on agricultural modernization and heavy machinery. Praising the UP-Belarus Industrial Dialogue that started four years ago, he said that Belarus has deepened the industrial relations between the two countries through its grand national pavilion in the trade show. The Chief Minister made a direct offer to world-renowned heavy machinery manufacturers, mining equipment companies and tractor brands from Belarus to set up their modern assembling and manufacturing units in Uttar Pradesh. He said that due to the huge agricultural area in the state, the domestic demand for state-of-the-art agricultural equipment and high harvester machines is increasing very rapidly, which can be met through the advanced engineering of Belarus.
During the meeting, CM Yogi apprised the foreign delegates about the global potential of Uttar Pradesh’s ambitious scheme ‘One District One Product’ (ODOP). He particularly mentioned the historic wood carving industry of Saharanpur and the wood clusters of Bijnor. The Chief Minister proposed that if the advanced and automated wood-processing technology of Belarus is integrated with these traditional ODOP clusters of western Uttar Pradesh, a new export market worth billions of dollars can be created by bringing the handicrafts and finishing of wooden products here at European and global standards. Additionally, to prepare the 56 per cent youth of the state for the needs of the global industry, the Chief Minister called upon the technical institutions of Belarus to set up their Advanced Vocational Training Institutes and Centers of Excellence in UP.
The Chief Minister’s meeting with Ono Keiichi, Ambassador of Japan to India, and Daisaku Yukita, Director General of Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO India) was extremely fruitful from diplomatic and cultural point of view. During the dialogue, there was an in-depth discussion on long-term economic development, electronics manufacturing, automobile and industrial investment promotion between Uttar Pradesh and Japan. In the meeting, special emphasis was laid on making the ancient and shared Buddhist heritage a medium of cultural diplomacy between the two countries. It was agreed to further strengthen sister-city relations between Sarnath in Varanasi, the site of Lord Buddha’s first sermon, and Nara Prefecture, the historical Buddhist center of Japan, so as to create a favorable environment in Uttar Pradesh for Japanese tourists and technical experts.
The progress of the ongoing investment agreements between Uttar Pradesh and Singapore was reviewed in the meeting with the high level delegation led by Singapore High Commissioner Simon Wong Wee Kuen and financial investors. The Singapore delegation wholeheartedly appreciated the state government’s transparent policies, strong law and order system and the single-window clearance system of ‘Invest UP’. The meeting discussed in detail the ground progress of the proposed state-of-the-art ‘Singapore City’ township project in the National Capital Region (NCR) and Singapore investors expressed keen interest in infusing additional capital in the areas of smart urban infrastructure, logistics and data centres. At the conclusion of this historic round of round table meetings, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath posed for a joint group photo with ambassadors, business commissioners and corporate heads of 25 countries from different continents, which became a symbol of global recognition of Uttar Pradesh’s resolve to become a trillion dollar economy.
