Update Aadhaar: Those whose Aadhaar card was made 10 years ago and has never been updated since then will have to submit their identity card and residential address proof to get it re-validated. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has set September 14 as the last date for free Aadhaar update.
The deadline has been extended several times so far and was last extended for three months on June 14 this year. Once the free update period is over, UIDAI will charge a fee of Rs. 50. It may be mentioned here that the free service is available only on the My Aadhaar portal.
Here's how to update Aadhaar online
- First of all go to myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in and login with your Aadhaar number and OTP. OTP i.e. One Time Password will be sent to your registered mobile number.
- View identity and address details in your profile
- If the details are correct then click on 'I verify that the above details are correct'.
- Proceed further if there is any error in the details
- Select the identity and address document you wish to submit from the relevant drop-down menu
- Upload the selected documents, ensuring each file is less than 2 MB in size and in JPEG, PNG or PDF format.
- Go to the Review option and check all the details carefully and if correct, click on Submit to give consent to update Aadhaar details.
