The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert of torrential rain, strong thunderstorm and lightning across the state on Monday (July 27). According to meteorologists, the next 14 hours may prove to be very challenging for many parts of the state. During this period, there is a possibility of stormy winds blowing at a speed of 70 to 80 kilometers per hour in some areas.
Weather changed due to system formed in Bay of Bengal
According to the Meteorological Department, the low-pressure area formed near the North-West Bay of Bengal and the adjacent Odisha coast is continuously strengthening. This seasonal system is moving ahead after crossing the Odisha and Bengal coast between Paradip and Sagar Islands. Along with this, the monsoon trough line is also moving towards the north. Due to the strong impact of these two systems, rainfall activities are going to increase rapidly in many interior parts of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, East Haryana and Bihar.
Orange alert in Lakhimpur and Bahraich, warning in 48 districts
The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert of extremely heavy rain for Bahraich and Lakhimpur Kheri districts. Apart from this, there is a possibility of heavy rain in 17 districts including Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar, Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, Sitapur, Hardoi, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur and Badaun. In view of the possibility of lightning along with lightning in 48 districts of the state, people have been given strict instructions to stay away from open places, trees and electric poles.
Heavy rain will continue till 30th July
According to Atul Kumar Singh, Senior Scientist, Regional Meteorological Centre, Lucknow, due to the northward movement of the monsoon trough and the strong pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, the entire eastern and western Uttar Pradesh will see widespread rainfall between July 27 and July 30. During this period, there will be intermittent rains in most of the districts of the state and at many places, due to which the temperature will drop and people will get a lot of relief from the humid heat.
