Monsoon is moving towards its last stop in Uttar Pradesh, but even as it goes, the movement of clouds is continuously changing the weather in different parts of the state. According to the latest forecast of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a possibility of sporadic rain and light showers with thunderstorms in many districts of Uttar Pradesh on September 19. While in some districts the weather will remain pleasant due to cover of clouds and light rain, the sultry heat in the plains can trouble people. According to the Meteorological Department, there are chances of light to moderate rain with thunderstorms in more than three dozen districts of Uttar Pradesh on September 19. Areas of western Uttar Pradesh like Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Aligarh, Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida), Ghaziabad, Hapur, Sambhal, Bulandshahr, Mathura, Agra, Bijnor and Mainpuri may witness thunder and light rainfall activities.
Sporadic showers are also expected in eastern Uttar Pradesh and central districts like capital Lucknow, Kanpur, Ayodhya, Sitapur, Hardoi, Prayagraj, Varanasi and Gorakhpur. Although meteorologists say that there is no possibility of any widespread heavy rain or major threat of excessive rainfall in the entire state, but due to local weather circulation, there may be a situation of lightning and strong winds at the speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour in some areas.
Talking about the temperature front, there will be no significant drop in mercury in the state today. In Lucknow and surrounding intermediate districts, the maximum temperature is expected to be recorded between 32 to 33 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to be between 25 to 26 degrees Celsius. Due to strong sunlight during the day and high humidity in the air, the humidity level will be quite high.
The maximum temperature in Noida and Ghaziabad, the industrial cities of western UP, may remain around 33 to 34 degrees Celsius. The impact of high humidity will be more in the afternoon in the Terai belt and some districts of Bundelkhand like Jhansi, Lalitpur and Banda. People will get immediate relief only after one or two rounds of rain, but as soon as the rain stops, the humid and sticky weather can trouble them again.
According to the Meteorological Department, favorable conditions have been created for the process of departure of South-West Monsoon to begin from parts of North-West India i.e. Western Rajasthan. Generally, after the withdrawal of monsoon from Rajasthan, monsoon winds gradually start retreating from Punjab, Haryana and Western Uttar Pradesh also.
Meteorologists believe that the formal departure of monsoon from Uttar Pradesh can begin by the last week of September (between 25th and 30th September). Till then, intermittent drizzle will continue at local level due to the influence of weak weather systems forming in the Bay of Bengal and Central India. In the coming few days, as soon as the direction of the winds turns completely to the westerly, the humidity will reduce and with the beginning of October, a pink coolness will be felt in the temperatures in the morning and evening.
The Meteorological Department and agricultural experts have advised farmers to keep an eye on the condition of the crops standing in the fields. Where there is a possibility of strong thunder or lightning, farmers should avoid taking shelter in open fields, under tall trees or electric poles. Also, do not leave harvested crops or ready produce in open places, so that sporadic rains do not damage the crops. General travelers are advised to keep an eye on the weather forecast when setting out for their daily routine and drink adequate fluids to avoid humidity.
