Up to 12 inches of rain with thunderstorm, waterlogging in many places, people in low-lying areas on alert

Devbhoomi Dwarka: Heavy to very heavy rains have been predicted by the Meteorological Department due to the activation of 3 rain systems simultaneously in Gujarat. Under which Meghraj is batting stormy especially in Saurashtra and South Gujarat. Today Meghraj is in full swing in Devbhoomi-Dwarka district. Dwarka received heavy rains of up to 12 inches throughout the day today.

The special thing is that about 9 inches of rain has been recorded in Dwarka taluka during the period of 4 to 6 hours in the evening. Due to heavy rains, there is waterlogging everywhere in Devbhoomi Dwarka. Water has flowed up to the knees on the road of Dwarka. Apart from this, due to heavy rains in rural areas, the fields have been flooded.

If we look at the rainfall data in other talukas apart from Dwarka, Kalyanpur taluka received 6 inches of rain, Khambhalia 4.5 inches and Bhanvad 2.5 inches of rain during the 12 hours from morning to 6 pm today. Many villages have lost connectivity as roads have been washed away due to lightning along with torrential rains.

An NDRF team rescued two people in Bhatia village, a low-lying area due to heavy rains in Devbhoomi Dwarka district. Under the guidance of Collector GT Pandya, teams of the district administration have alerted people in low-lying areas.

Today, rain has been recorded in 103 talukas. The highest rainfall has been recorded in Dwarka district at 304 mm, Porbandar at 215 mm, Keshod in Junagadh at 212 mm, Vanthali at 179 mm, Umargam at 156 mm, while Kalyanpur taluka received 151 mm rainfall.

During the two-hour period from 4 pm to 6 pm, rain was recorded in 43 talukas. Out of which Dwarka received the highest rainfall of 230 mm (9 inches). Apart from this, 39 mm rain was recorded in Kalyanpur, 30 mm in Kalawad of Jamnagar and 27 mm in Khambhalia of Dwarka.

In Kalyanpur Panthak, rain has taken the form of thunderstorms at many places for the last two days and waterlogging is being seen everywhere due to torrential rain. In the rain that started after heavy rain yesterday, Bhatia, Nandana, Patelka and other villages of Kalyanpur taluka received two to three inches of rain and the fields were flooded. A river-like scene was seen on the roads including Bus Station Chowk, Railway Station Road, Bhatia Village Main Bazaar.
