Lucknow: The South-West Monsoon is looking completely kind in Uttar Pradesh and heavy rains are continuing in most parts of the state. According to the latest bulletin of India Meteorological Department (IMD), monsoon has increased its pace significantly in UP, due to which clouds have gathered in various districts of the state since Sunday. While the torrential rains on Tuesday have provided great relief to the general public from the scorching heat and humidity, the Meteorological Department has warned that the mood in the state will remain the same throughout the week. Especially on the coming weekend (Saturday-Sunday), there is a strong possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in many parts of Purvanchal i.e. Eastern Uttar Pradesh, for which ‘Orange’ and ‘Yellow’ alerts have been issued.

Scientists of Lucknow-based Zonal Meteorological Center have issued a serious forecast of continuous rain, lightning and strong thunderstorms in most areas of Uttar Pradesh till July 12, 2026. According to the Meteorological Department, the situation in Western UP may remain quite sensitive between July 8 and 10.

During this period, there has been a warning of thunderstorms and lightning at many places in many districts and extremely heavy rain at some places. Amidst this seasonal upheaval, strong winds will blow at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour in the plains, whose speed can reach up to 60 kilometers per hour due to sudden gusts, due to which there is a possibility of damage to mud houses and trees.

In the districts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh (Purvanchal), the sequence of clouds continues to rain continuously. According to special analysis by meteorologists, there will be heavy rainfall at isolated places across Uttar Pradesh on July 8, 9 and 10. But the real change will be seen from the evening of July 10, when the monsoon trough line will shift towards Purvanchal.

Due to its effect, extremely heavy rainfall has been predicted at some places in the districts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh on July 11 and 12. While no special or red category warning has been issued for western Uttar Pradesh during this period, only light to moderate showers may occur there.

Record breaking rainfall in Banda and Meerut: There was a huge drop in the temperature of the cities.

Talking about the official data recorded in the last 24 hours, Banda district of Bundelkhand remained at the forefront in terms of rainfall, where a record 61.4 millimeters (mm) of rainfall was recorded. Apart from this, it rained 68.2 mm in Meerut in Western UP, 32.2 mm in Varanasi (BHU), 24 mm in Shahjahanpur and 20.8 mm in Muzaffarnagar.

Due to this heavy rain, the maximum day temperature in most of the major cities of Uttar Pradesh has fallen several degrees below normal, due to which people have got complete relief from the heat like May-June. According to IMD data, due to heavy rains the maximum temperature in Banda dropped to 30.2 degrees Celsius, while in Etawah it was 32.6 degrees Celsius, in industrial city Kanpur 33.6 degrees Celsius and in the capital Lucknow the maximum temperature was 34.4 degrees Celsius, which made the weather very pleasant.
