UP Rain Alert: New cyclone in Bay of Bengal will bring torrential rains, storm alert till September 16; Warning in many districts including Lucknow-Agra

The people of Uttar Pradesh are going to get great relief from the humid and sticky heat. The sudden change in weather patterns has created favorable conditions for rain across the state. According to the Lucknow center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a new low pressure area formed over the North Bay of Bengal and its surrounding areas has again pulled the monsoon trough towards North India.

Due to this weather disturbance, heavy rains, thunderstorms and lightning are going to start in different parts of the state from today, September 11. Meteorologists have forecast intermittent torrential rains in both the eastern and western divisions of the state from September 11 to September 16.

According to the latest bulletin of the Meteorological Department, the first and maximum impact of the monsoon winds rising from the Bay of Bengal will be on Eastern Uttar Pradesh i.e. Purvanchal. Along with this, the scope of rain activities will continuously increase in Western Uttar Pradesh also:

• Central and Eastern Uttar Pradesh: There is a possibility of strong thunderstorm with heavy rain in the capital Lucknow, Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Sultanpur, Basti, Gonda and Bahraich.

• 130 mm rain in Kaiserganj: During the last 24 hours, heavy rainfall of 130 mm (13 cm) was recorded in Kaiserganj area of ​​Bahraich district, which was the highest in the state.

• Western Uttar Pradesh and NCR: Agra, Mathura, Aligarh, Meerut, Bareilly, Moradabad, Saharanpur and Noida and Ghaziabad adjacent to Delhi-NCR are also expected to witness heavy rains and strong winds along with movement of clouds from September 11.

Movement of clouds is being seen in the sky in the capital Lucknow since Friday morning. According to the Meteorological Center, after noon there may be one to two rounds of heavy rain with strong thunderstorm in many parts of the city.

• Mathematics of Temperature: Due to the rain, the maximum temperature is expected to drop to around 32°C and the minimum temperature to reach around 26°C to 27°C, which will provide relief to the people from the sultry heat that has been prevailing for the last few days.

• Wind Speed: During thunderstorms, strong winds and gusts can occur at a speed of 30 to 45 km per hour.

The Meteorological Department has issued special safety guidelines for citizens in view of the possibility of thunderstorm and lightning strike:

• Distance from trees and poles: Do not under any circumstances take shelter in open fields, trees, tin sheds or under electric poles during bad weather, storm and strong lightning.

• Waterlogging and dilapidated buildings: Heavy rains may cause waterlogging in low-lying areas. It is strictly advised to stay away from dilapidated and old buildings.

• Advice for farmers: Farmers working in the fields should immediately move into permanent houses as soon as the weather turns bad and avoid using electronic devices to protect themselves from lightning.
