UP Police operation: 6 encounters in 24 hours, 5 criminals killed

Within the last 24 hours, Uttar Pradesh Police took strong action against the criminals and conducted 6 encounters from Western UP to Purvanchal. In these encounters, 5 criminals were killed, while two others were arrested with injuries. This campaign started from Pilibhit on Monday morning and reached Ghazipur on Tuesday morning via Meerut, Lucknow.

1. Pilibhit: Pro-Khalistan terrorists eliminated

On Monday morning, UP Police killed three pro-Khalistan terrorists who had fled from Punjab in Pilibhit.

  • Suspected terrorists: Accused of carrying out grenade attack on Gurdaspur police post.
  • Weapons recovered: two AK-47 rifles, two Glock pistols, and a huge quantity of cartridges.
  • Police action: The cordon was cordoned off as part of a joint operation by Punjab and UP police. When the police warned to surrender, the terrorists started firing. All three were killed in retaliation.
  • Where were the dead terrorists taken: Puranpur Community Health Centre.

2. Meerut: Encounter of kidnapping accused

In Meerut on Monday, the police arrested Lavi, accused of kidnapping of comedian Sunil Pal and actor Mukhtar Khan, after an encounter.

  • Result: The accused was shot in the leg and arrested.
  • History of the accused: Wanted in kidnapping as well as several other criminal cases.

3. Lucknow: Three encounters on bank locker gang

A case of robbery by breaking 40 lockers in Chinhat branch of Indian Overseas Bank came to light in Lucknow on Sunday. In this case, the police conducted encounters at three places in 24 hours.

  • First Encounter:
    • Arrested: Arvind Kumar (injured by bullet), Balram, and Kailash.
    • Recoveries: Cash, gold, silver and weapons.
  • Second Encounter:
    • Location: Jalsetu Chowki, Chinhat.
    • Result: Sobind Kumar was killed; The second suspect escaped.
    • Recoveries: Pistol, cash, and other items.
  • Third Encounter:
    • Sunny Dayal eliminated in Ghazipur.

4. Ghazipur: Criminal carrying reward of Rs 25,000 eliminated

Sunny Dayal, a criminal carrying a bounty of Rs 25,000, was killed in a police encounter in Ghazipur on Tuesday morning.

  • Police action:
    • The suspects riding a motorcycle were stopped, but they opened fire on the police.
    • Sunny Dayal was seriously injured in the retaliatory firing and was declared dead in the hospital.
  • Recovery: A pistol and Rs 35,500.
