The Uttar Pradesh state government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has recently announced an increase in the grant amount under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana. The authorities have increased the grant amount by Rs 10,000 with effect from April. Earlier the grant amount was fixed at Rs 15,000, which will now be increased to Rs 25,000 for the financial year 2024-25.
Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana provides financial assistance from the birth of daughters till their admission in graduation or diploma courses. With the revised grant amount, there will be significant changes in the overall financial assistance provided at different stages of the scheme. Let us look at the difference made in detail in the grant and how to benefit.
According to the order, the first installment of grant which was given at the time of birth was Rs 2,000, now it has been increased to Rs 5,000. In the second phase of giving the amount, the beneficiary used to get Rs 1,000 for getting all the vaccines in a year, which will now be Rs 2,000.
In the third phase, a total of Rs 2,000 was offered to the beneficiary on taking admission in the first class, and now Rs 3,000 will be given. After this, financial assistance of Rs 2,000 will be given for admission in class six, which will now be increased to Rs 3,000.
In the fifth phase, on taking admission in class 9, the beneficiary used to get Rs 3,000, which will now be increased to Rs 5,000. Similarly, in the sixth and final phase, Rs 5,000 is given to a beneficiary who passes out from school or is enrolled in a diploma or graduate program of two or more years. After the increase in the grant amount, the beneficiary will now get Rs 7,000.
Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana is a scheme launched by the government of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in 2019. The objective of this scheme is to provide financial assistance to families with girl children/children. According to the official website of the scheme, there is a certain set of eligibility criteria that defines whether a family is fulfilling all the requirements to benefit from it or not. They are as follows:
The annual income of the applicant's family should not exceed Rs 3 lakh.
The beneficiary's family must have permanent residence proof of Uttar Pradesh.
To avail the benefits of the scheme, there should not be more than 2 children in the family.
This scheme will be available for 2 girls in a family.
Apart from the girl child born under Kanya Sumangala Scheme, any girl child adopted will also be eligible for the benefits.
In case of twins, the third girl child from the second delivery will also be eligible to avail the benefits of the scheme.
