Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh has given a big gift to lakhs of women employees and Anganwadi workers of the state. A historic increase in the honorarium of Anganwadi workers and assistants working under the Child Development Services and Nutrition Department of the state has been announced. During the felicitation ceremony held at Ayodhya Dham, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced a direct increase in the monthly honorarium of Anganwadi workers from ₹8,000 to ₹12,000 per month. Along with this, the honorarium of assistants has also been increased by one and a half times from ₹ 4,000 to ₹ 6,000. With this decision, about 2.91 lakh Anganwadi workers and assistants of the state will get direct financial benefits.
While making the announcement, the Chief Minister said that the government is fully committed to respecting mother power and their self-reliance. The major changes made in the honorarium structure are as follows:

Anganwadi Workers: Their honorarium has now been increased from ₹8,000 to ₹12,000 per month (a direct increase of ₹4,000).

Anganwadi Helpers: The monthly honorarium of assistants has been increased from ₹4,000 to ₹6,000 per month.

Four times increase from 2017 till now: The Chief Minister said that before 2017, Anganwadi workers used to get only ₹3,000 and helpers used to get ₹1,500. The government first increased it to ₹8,000 and ₹4,000 respectively and now it has been increased to ₹12,000 and ₹6,000.
Apart from increase in honorarium, Yogi government has also made many other important announcements for the welfare of these women workers:

Cashless health insurance of ₹5 lakh: Cashless medical treatment (Cashless Health Cover) up to ₹ 5 lakh will be provided every year to all the Anganwadi workers, assistants and their families of the state.

Increase in dress code: Anganwadi workers will now be provided 3 sarees (uniforms) every year instead of 2.

Smart Anganwadi Center and Smartphone: The workers will be equipped with new smartphones and the centers will be connected with modern facilities to ease the work of nutrition tracker and real-time data feeding.
Earlier, the Yogi government had also increased the honorarium of about 3.54 lakh cook sisters preparing mid-day meals in Basic Education Council schools from ₹ 2,000 to ₹ 3,000 per month and had also brought their families under the ambit of health insurance cover of ₹ 5 lakh. Due to these decisions of the government, there is a wave of happiness among the contract and honorarium based women workers providing services at the grassroots level.
