Temple bell controversy in Uttar Pradesh: The Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) has sent a notice to a society in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, over the noise pollution caused by ringing temple bells. A copy of this notice has gone viral on social media. People are showing a lot of anger in this matter.

What is the whole matter?

According to reports, a resident of Gaur Saundaryam Society in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh complained to the Pollution Control Board that the bells ringing in the society's temple cause a lot of noise pollution. In this case, UPPCB has issued a notice to the society.

Mudit Bansal, a resident of the society, had lodged a complaint with the UPPCB through e-mail on July 30. Then on August 5, the Pollution Control Board inspected the noise pollution caused by ringing the bell in the temple. During the investigation, the temple bell produced a sound of 70 decibels. According to the notice issued to the society, compliance with the provisions of the Noise Pollution Rules, 2000 should be ensured so that people do not face problems due to the noise of the bells. A reply has also been sought from the society on the notice.

Public outrage over the notice

This notice is continuously going viral on social media, on which people are expressing their displeasure. People say that the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board is proving unsuccessful in controlling pollution. Instead of pollution, they are giving notice on temple bells which is wrong. Temple bells do not cause noise pollution. Other residents of the society have demanded to withdraw this action.
