'Untold Tales of Bollywood' launched at the World Book Fair

New Delhi, 16 February (HS). Senior film critic and scholar Prahlad Aggarwal launched litterateur Ajay Kumar Sharma's book 'Untold Tales of Bollywood' at the World Book Fair in Delhi on Friday. The book has been published by Sandish Publications.

This book is a compilation of selected articles from his weekly column on cinema “Bollywood Ke Ankhe Kisse” for the Hindustan Samachar multilingual news agency over the last two years. The author has also named this book after the column.

Ajay Kumar Sharma, who has long experience in journalism and literary creation, has been continuously writing on literature, culture, drama, history, cinema and social subjects in the major newspapers and magazines of the country for four decades. Presently he is the assistant editor of Sahitya Akademi.

The special thing about these articles is that through them they have been bringing out new research-based material regarding the history of Hindi cinema. These stories are not just gossip but give interesting information about the methods, thinking, culture and working style related to cinema of that period.

Congratulating the author, film critic Prahlad Aggarwal said that cinema is a modern theater science and such serious writing is required on it. Commenting on the interestingness of the book, litterateur Pratap Singh said that only such language will be successful in popularizing serious writing on films.

Publisher Harikrishna Yadav expressed hope that this new book by Ajay Kumar Sharma will bring to the fore many unknown and interesting aspects of cinema, which are hidden behind the dark and light sides of cinema.
