A big news is coming out from the political circles of Uttar Pradesh. The political equations for the 10 Rajya Sabha seats falling vacant from the state have become completely clear. On Tuesday, the last day of the nomination process, all eight candidates of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) filed their official nomination papers. With these eight candidates of BJP in the fray, it is considered completely certain that both the candidates of Samajwadi Party (SP) will be elected unopposed as per their numerical strength. However, the final and formal announcement of this unopposed election will be made on October 9 after the expiry of the prescribed deadline for withdrawal of nominations.
All eight BJP candidates reached the state headquarters of the party just before the nomination on Tuesday. During this time, a huge crowd of workers and supporters gathered to welcome him, who had garlands in their hands and party placards around their necks. Amidst the sound of drums and loud slogans, all the party’s Rajya Sabha candidates – Dharampal Singh, Radhakant Ojha, Prakash Pal, Vidyasagar Sonkar, Gopi Krishna Pandey, Priyanka Singh Rawat, Ram Pratap Singh Chauhan and Shruti Gangwar were given a grand welcome.
Senior party leaders, like Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, State President Pankaj Chaudhary and Organization General Secretary Dharampal Singh introduced all these candidates to the party officials. After this, in the presence of a large number of public representatives and workers, all the candidates reached the election hall located at Vidhan Bhawan and submitted their nomination papers before Election Officer Ajit Kumar Verma. During this, BJP also made a big show of strength.
On the other hand, senior leader from Samajwadi Party, Prof. Ram Gopal Yadav also submitted his third set of nomination papers on Tuesday. Earlier, last week on September 30, Prof. along with SP candidate Dhanraj Nathwani. Ram Gopal has filed his nomination papers in two sets. Considering the mathematics of numerical strength in the Assembly, this coordination of seats between BJP and Samajwadi Party has been a relief for both the parties.
Scrutiny of nomination papers will be completed on Wednesday (7 October). During this election process, an independent candidate from Telangana, Kante Sayanna, had also filled his nomination form, but he has left the proposer column blank, due to which it is certain that his nomination will be rejected during scrutiny. In such a situation, only 10 legitimate candidates will be left in the fray for 10 seats. It is noteworthy that the tenure of the current Rajya Sabha members of the 10 seats for which this election is being held is ending on 25th November. After the completion of the withdrawal process, the official certificate of all 10 candidates being elected unopposed will be issued on October 9.
