Palamu, 1 August (HS). There is an atmosphere of discontent among the employees working through outsourcing in Nilambar-Pitambar University (headquarters) and various colleges under it due to non-payment of salary since January. No initiative has been taken by the university administration on this issue and no positive attitude is visible either. Angered by this, the employees have started an indefinite strike in the university campus from Thursday.

It has been decided to continue the agitation until salaries are paid.

The protesting employees said that due to not getting salary for seven months, it has become difficult for the employees to run their families. Many employees have been asked by their landlords to vacate the house due to not being able to pay the rent, while the shops are also not giving ration due to high debt. Only assurances were given by the university officials, but till now no concrete steps have been taken in this direction.

It is known that on 21 June 2024, the Vice Chancellor of the University had assured all the employees that everyone would be paid within a month, but due to non-payment of remuneration till now, all the employees are forced to go on an indefinite strike from today, 1 August. All the employees of the university and the under colleges, including Ankit Upadhyay, Alok Kumar, Pankaj Kumar, Shubham Tiwari, Saroja Devi, Shashi Devi were prominently present in the strike.
