Raisen, 30 August (HS). Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat visited the World Heritage Buddhist Stupa located in Sanchi of Raisen district during his one-day stay in Madhya Pradesh on Friday. During this, he visited other heritage sites including Buddhist stupas.
Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has arrived here to attend the 39th National Conference of Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) starting in Bhopal. In the afternoon, the Union Tourism Minister reached the World Heritage Buddhist Stupa at Sanchi. Here Union Minister Shekhawat was welcomed by applying Tilak and presenting a bouquet of flowers as per Indian culture. Shekhawat saw the Buddhist stupas and other heritage sites and was mesmerized by seeing their beauty and architectural style. Along with the Buddhist stupas, the natural beauty of this place also attracted him.
During this, the officials of the Archaeological Survey of India made him aware of the teachings of Lord Buddha and the messages of Emperor Ashoka. He was informed about the architectural style of Sanchi stupas, their historical and archaeological importance. Union Minister Shekhawat said that the government is continuously working under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the development of tourist places. Tourist places are being linked to tourist circuits. This is not only promoting tourism but also creating new employment opportunities.
On this occasion, Collector Arvind Dubey, Superintendent of Police Pankaj Pandey, Regional Director Bhuvan Vikram, Superintendent Archaeologist Manoj Kurmi, Assistant Archaeologist MC Joshi and Sanchi Stupa in-charge Sandeep Mehta along with other officers were present.
