Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda and Minister of State Pratap Rao Jadhav virtually inaugurated the Tobacco Control Center at the Autonomous State Medical College Lakhimpur Kheri, affiliated to the District Hospital Kheri, on Tuesday across the country. At the same time, the Tobacco Control Center was inaugurated by Principal Dr. Arya Desh Deepak at the Medical College located in Oil. During this, CMS District Male Hospital Dr. RK Koli and CMS District Female Hospital Dr. Jyoti Mahrotra were mainly present with him. The live broadcast of the entire program was watched by doctors, paramedical staff and other staff.

During this, Principal Dr. Arya Desh Deepak said that on the instructions of the government, a tobacco control center is being started in the medical college. Its objective is to provide medical and mental help to people to quit tobacco products which include paan powder, bidi, cigarette, tobacco, gutkha, pan masala, khaini, zarda etc. With the start of this center, now people who have become addicted to consuming tobacco products will get it directly.

During this, CMS Dr. Koli said that tobacco is such a poison that slowly takes a person away from his life, most of the youth are between 16 and 22 years of age, for which parents should take special care of children of this age so that they do not get attracted to tobacco products and become addicted to it. Today, its consumption is increasing among children, old and young alike. In such a situation, diseases caused by tobacco products are also increasing rapidly.

CMS Dr. Jyoti Mahrotra said that the number of women consuming tobacco products has also increased. There are women who consume tobacco products even during pregnancy, in such a case it can be a big threat not only for them but also for their unborn child. She said that tobacco can also cause infertility. In such a situation, a large population will benefit from the opening of this center.

During this time, senior doctor Dr SK Mishra along with Tobacco Control Centre's nodal associate professor Dr John Jab Rizvi and Dr Vineet, Dr Pramod, Dr Amit Kumar Singh, Dr Indresh Rajawat, Dr Manoj Sharma, psychiatrist Dr Deepa Singh, Dr Jayaram, matron Rajni Masih, Mahant Singh, Manoj Maurya, Indra Awasthi, counselor Dev Nandan Shrivastava, Anjali Devi, help desk manager Surendra Kashyap and Pankaj Kumar Shukla, Nilesh Gupta, Anju Kanaujia etc were present from the help desk department.
