Bhopal, July 16 (HS). Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari held a meeting in New Delhi on Tuesday and reviewed all the ongoing national highway projects in Madhya Pradesh costing more than Rs 100 crore. Madhya Pradesh Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh was also present in the meeting.
Minister Rakesh Singh gave information about the construction work being done in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav in the meeting. He also shared information about the Public Works Sarovars being prepared in the state on the lines of Amrit Sarovars.
In the meeting, Union Minister Gadkari reviewed the progress of 28 projects of National Highways Authority of India worth Rs. 18 thousand crores in Madhya Pradesh. He also reviewed the progress of 10 projects of Public Works Department worth Rs. 4 thousand crores.
Issues such as progress of projects, obstacles in construction works, delays, land acquisition and forest clearances were discussed in the meeting. Union Minister Gadkari also gave instructions to fix the responsibility of DPR consultants for changes made during construction of projects.
Emphasizing on the possibilities of shifting trees cut during road construction, Union Minister Gadkari suggested Madhya Pradesh to prepare a road side tree-plantation policy. All possible help was assured from the Highway Ministry in this. He said that this review meeting would prove to be an important step towards accelerating infrastructure development in Madhya Pradesh and making transport facilities more accessible.
Agreement signed for ropeway in Ujjain
In the meeting, an agreement was signed between National Highway Logistics Management Company and Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation for ropeway. Under the Parvatmala project, an important agreement was signed between National Highway Logistics Management Company and Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation for building ropeways in Ujjain and Sagar cities. On this occasion, Chief Executive Officer Prakash Gaur on behalf of National Highway Logistics Management Company and Managing Director Avinash Lavania on behalf of Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation signed the agreement.
