Alwar, 5 October (Hindustan Reporter). Union Forest and Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav and State Minister of State for Forest and Environment Sanjay Sharma on Saturday inaugurated the upgradation work of Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) located at Agyara, Ramgarh, Alwar at a cost of Rs 12 crore.

The Union Forest Minister said that after coming to the notice of the STP and solid waste management plant being closed for years and the problems being faced by the nearby residents, it was taken up on priority. Now the local residents will get relief from foul smell and water will be available for irrigation etc. After inspecting the solid waste management plant, he instructed the Municipal Corporation Commissioner to get the representatives of Rolls Material, the plant operating firm of Alwar Municipal Corporation, to visit Nagpur to get it operated on the lines of the solid waste management plant run by the Municipal Corporation of Nagpur. During this, he gave the message of environmental protection by planting trees.

District Collector Dr. Artika Shukla said that the upgradation work of STP has been done by the Urban Development Trust with a total amount of Rs 12 crore. In which the construction cost is Rs 8.64 crore and a provision of Rs 3.17 crore has been made for operation and maintenance of STP for 10 years. Now the treated water from STP will reduce from 20 BOD to 10 BOD. Which will be odorless and can be used for irrigation etc. He told that by establishing coordination, the solid waste management plant will be handed over to Municipal Corporation's Sensor Rolls Material Handling System Pvt. Ltd. The work has been started by. The machinery installed here has the capacity to dispose of 300 tonnes of waste.
