Unemployment increased by 3% in villages in 1 month, 9.30% people do not have work, situation is pathetic in cities too

Unemployment News : After being 7% in May, the unemployment rate in the country has increased to 9.20% in June. Last month, the unemployment rate reached an eight-month high. According to the data of the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy, this figure was 8.50% in June last year. The percentage of unemployed women has increased significantly compared to men.

Unemployment data is obtained on the basis of Consumer Pyramid Household Survey conducted periodically by the Centre.

A workforce that is looking for employment but does not have employment is considered unemployed.

The percentage of women unemployed among the total unemployed was 18.50 percent, which was 15.10 percent in June last year. The unemployment rate among men was 7.80 percent, which was 7.70 percent in June 2023.

The number of unemployment in rural areas has been seen to be constantly high. In June of the current year, the figure of rural unemployment was 9.30 percent, while in June last year it was 8.80 percent. The figures of the Center also show that it was 6.30 percent in May. The number of male unemployed in rural areas is 8.20 percent, while this number is 17.10 percent among women.

The unemployment rate in urban areas rose marginally from 8.60 percent in May to 8.90 percent in June. The report said that the percentage of female unemployment in urban areas rose to 21.36 percent.

The unemployment rate has increased amid a high labour participation rate (LPR). Among the people of working age (15 years and above), those who are working or want to work and are seeking employment are called LPR.

The LPR has increased marginally to 41.40 percent, which was 39.90 percent in June 2023.
