UNDP praised the work of Bihar State Disaster Management Authority

Patna, June 13 (HS). A high-level meeting was organized in the auditorium of Bihar State Disaster Management Authority on Thursday under the chairmanship of Vice President Dr. Uday Kant and under the guidance of member Paras Nath Rai. Resident representative of United Nation Development Program (UNDP) in India Isabel San was present in this meeting with her five-member team. Isabel San was very impressed after getting information about the programs of the authority.

Isabelle San praised the innovative technical experiments done by the Authority in the field of disaster management and said that I am very happy that I got the opportunity to visit the Authority. She showed interest in working together in the state of Bihar and expressed her desire to promote Bihar's programs in other states through UNDP. She also expressed her desire to give her technical contribution in the field of disaster risk management in Bihar.

He discussed about preparing departmental disaster management plan to strengthen the participation of other departments in the field of disaster management, providing technical support in strengthening and implementing Patna's urban disaster management plan, preparing a framework for implementation and monitoring of DRR roadmap and creating a dashboard, training of officials related to disaster management and working together with the authority in the field of field visits to learn better practices in other states, etc.

On the occasion, Vice President Dr. Uday Kant welcomed the proposal given by UNDP and expressed his desire to implement the future action plan. Responding to Isabel San's question on preparations to protect women from disaster in Bihar, he said that under the visionary leadership of the Chairman-cum-Chief Minister of the Authority, the Authority is working for disaster prevention and management through 1.5 crore Asha Didis and the effectiveness of the policies of 50% women reservation in the state.

Member Paras Nath Rai provided detailed information about the Authority's safe swimming program and volunteer training program for disaster management of women. On this occasion, Authority Secretary Mr. Meenendra Kumar, Special Secretary Ashutosh Singh, Authority officials and UNDP National Program Officer Dr. Chiranjeev, Program Analyst Mr. Shubham Tandon and Advisor Mr. Chandan were present. The program was conducted by the Authority's Senior Advisor Dr. Anil Kumar.
