Haryana Congress politics : Just 15 days after the results of the Lok Sabha elections, politics has heated up in Haryana due to a big face leaving the Congress. Congress MLA Kiran Chaudhary and her daughter Shruti have left the Congress and joined the BJP. Kiran Chaudhary is the daughter-in-law of former Haryana Chief Minister Bansi Lal, while Kiran's daughter Shruti is a former MP. Apart from this, Shruti was also the working president of Haryana Congress before leaving the Congress. Both of them submitted their resignation to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge yesterday. Today at 10.30 am, they joined the BJP in the presence of Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini and former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar at the BJP headquarters. Talking about Kiran Chaudhary along with Kumari Selja and Randeep Singh Surjewala, these three leaders are known as the SRK team in the state and have always challenged Bhupendra Singh Hooda, who has become synonymous with the Congress.
Congress is out of power in Haryana for the last 10 years
Congress has been out of power in Haryana for the last 10 years. Congress, which did not win a single seat from Haryana in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections, has won five out of 10 seats in the state this time. Congress has performed well in the Lok Sabha elections, so the party is hopeful of returning to power in the state, although the resignation of another Chief Minister Kiran Chaudhary has given a big blow to the party. After his resignation, discussions have also started on how much impact it will have on the assembly elections to be held in Haryana in October-November.
Congress has suffered a loss due to the departure of Kiran Chaudhary
According to political experts, there have been incidents of defection in Congress in the past due to lack of confidence among Congress leaders towards the party and whether they will be able to win elections on the party ticket or not. However, the picture has changed after the recent Lok Sabha elections. Experts believe that Kiran Chaudhary's departure may cause more damage to the Congress. However, now the Congress leadership should talk to Kumari Selja and Randeep Singh Surjewala and assure them that they will not be sidelined. On the other hand, the Congress will also have to take care that Bhupendra Singh Hooda, the biggest face of the party in the state, does not become frustrated and disappointed.
Why did Kiran Chaudhary leave the party?
Before knowing why Kiran left the Congress, it is important to discuss the internal dispute of Haryana Congress. Two-time former Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda has become synonymous with the Congress in Haryana, while the group challenging Hooda includes Kumari Selja, Randeep Singh Surjewala and Kiran Chaudhary. Kiran Chaudhary's daughter Shruti was a contender for a Lok Sabha ticket from the Congress. Shruti won the Mahendragarh-Bhiwani Lok Sabha seat in 2009, although she lost from the same seat in 2014 and 2019. After this, the Congress gave a ticket to Hooda's close aide Ram Dan Singh to replace him in 2024. Kiran Chaudhary suffered two setbacks in this election, one was the cancellation of her daughter's ticket and the other was the entry of Hooda's close aide into the fray. Both these things were not liked by Kiran.
Bhupendra Singh Hooda is a big face of the Jat community
Kiran Chaudhary has said in her resignation that the Congress party has become a private fiefdom in Haryana and there is no place left for honest people like us. Kiran Chaudhary was in the Congress for 40 years. Bhupendra Singh Hooda is also a big face of the Jat community. Kiran, Shailja and Surjewala, all three have been challenging Hooda ever since the Congress is in power in the state.
Did Kiran really resign after her daughter didn't get a ticket?
Now the biggest question after Kiran's resignation is whether she has really resigned without giving a ticket to her daughter? There is also a discussion in political circles that Congress is working on a strategy to create a new equation of votes by bringing Jats and Dalits together in Haryana. The party already has a big Jat face like Hooda. Mallikarjun Kharge has assured Kumari Selja that Congress will not let injustice happen to you. Kiran Chaudhary is also from the Jat community. In such a situation, it has not been seen that Kiran has been given the same stature as Hooda on the pitch of Jat politics of the state.
Kiran joins the might of BJP
On the other hand, BJP is not strong on the pitch of Jat politics in the state. BJP lost five seats in the Lok Sabha elections, the reason for which is being attributed to the resentment of Jats and farmers. Apart from this, BJP's alliance with Jannayak Janata Party has also broken. In such a situation, BJP needed a big face and Kiran Chaudhary was needed.
Kiran can be sent to Rajya Sabha
Kiran Chaudhary has also been the Deputy Speaker in the Delhi Assembly. A Rajya Sabha seat has become vacant due to the victory of Congress candidate Deepender Hooda from Rohtak, if an agreement is reached between the BJP leader and Kiran Chaudhary, she can also be sent to the Rajya Sabha from Haryana. After Kiran Chaudhary joins the BJP, Congress will lose an MLA. However, Kiran said that both she and her daughter have joined the BJP unconditionally.
